EPIC Technologies Wins SMT Magazine’s Vision Award

By

Rochester Hills, MI — EPIC Technologies today announced that it had received the 2005 Vision Award in the Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) Provider category. The awards program was sponsored by SMT Magazine and recognized the companies and products within the surface mount industry that serve as benchmarks of excellence. The award was presented during a ceremony at the APEX trade show in Anaheim, CA on Feb. 8.

EPIC received its award for the introduction of its customized Synchronous Flow Manufacturing (SFM) process into its Johnson City, TN operation following its acquisition in February 2005. Resulting operational improvements highlighted in its nomination form included:

  • Elimination of customers’ obligations for firm schedules while improving on-time delivery
  • Reduction in revenue associated with past due orders by 90%
  • Reduction in production square footage of 43%, including transfer or elimination of four production lines while supporting the same amount of revenue

“The EPIC Technologies team has worked very hard to differentiate ourselves from our competition in the EMS market. We are honored to be recognized by SMT Magazine as a leader in the industry. This award serves as a testimony to the value that EPIC’s Synchronous Flow Manufacturing model brings to our customers in terms of flexibility and responsiveness,” said Todd Baggett, EPIC’s vice president of business development.

“I am extremely pleased to see EPIC win this award at APEX only a day after winning three Service Excellence Awards. This is further validation that our Synchronous Flow Manufacturing model is achieving superior results. I am especially pleased with the acquisition integration efforts of both our long-term personnel and our Johnson City team. Their implementation successes made this award possible,” said John Sammut, EPIC’s president and CEO.
